2026 Peugeot 208: What Buyers Need to Know
Applicability: EU; documented 2026 sales/production period, not a globally uniform model year. This profile covers the second generation 2026 equipment update hatchback. It does not transfer the listed specification to unrelated market versions or earlier generations.

Precise 2026 regional technical evidence
Peugeot’s official France tariff and technical specification dated 1 June 2026 confirms a 100-PS turbo with six-speed manual, 110/145-PS e-DCS6 hybrids and two e-208 motor/battery offerings: 136 PS with 50 kWh or 156 PS with 54 kWh. The brochure provides body/option-dependent French WLTP data, which should be checked for the exact trim; no universal EV distance or UK specification is inferred.
What is distinct about this version
By October 2026 Peugeot was selling updated 208 equipment configurations including ENVY, alongside existing petrol, hybrid and EV branches; the article uses a 2026 European sales period rather than claiming a new generation.
Three different propulsion choices
The 208’s badge spans conventional petrol, electrified hybrid and fully electric versions. A 100-hp six-speed-manual Turbo is not a hybrid, while the 110- or 145-hp hybrid pairs its gasoline engine with an e-DCS6 automatic. The E-208 drives without a combustion engine at all. Each should be costed against its real job: an urban commuter with home charging may find the EV attractive, while a driver on irregular long routes may prefer refuelling flexibility. Comparing “fuel economy” without separating these technologies is meaningless.
Packaging and controls
Peugeot’s compact steering-wheel-and-raised-instrument arrangement is distinctive enough to demand a personal seating test. Buyers should check that they can read the display in their preferred driving position without obstruction. For 2026 Peugeot describes improved screen presentation and updated controls, plus Allure Plus, GT Plus and ENVY equipment distinctions. A second-hand car advertised as “208 Allure” may not have all the newly described plus-grade features, particularly if registered before the update or sold outside the covered market.
The most sensible used-car comparison
A 208 belongs beside a Renault Clio, Opel Corsa, Volkswagen Polo and other European superminis, not in a direct performance comparison with a family SUV. Look at rear-door access, seat comfort, visibility, tyre sizes and how much luggage fits behind the rear seats. For a fully electric example, inspect cable provision and charging compatibility; for hybrid and petrol examples, check service records relevant to the actual engine and transmission. Peugeot’s 2026 line-up information is Europe-facing and does not establish identical grades in every country.
