Vehicle scope: calendar-year 2020 introduction or documented sale in DE; Corsa F sixth-generation BEV, hatchback. Market/trim verification remains essential.

Documented configuration: 100kW / 136hp electric motor; 50kWh nominal pack, FWD single-speed, WLTP manufacturer figure up to 337km depending specification. A quoted range or economy cycle, where present, applies only to its stated market and test procedure.

The 2020 vehicle and its actual year boundary

Opel brought the electric Corsa-e to European buyers in spring 2020 as part of the sixth-generation Corsa F line. The period press kit puts it into the new small EV market alongside a conventional petrol/diesel Corsa, but the electric car has different propulsion and charging constraints. It should not inherit specifications of the later Corsa Electric refresh or the more powerful post-2020 models.

Verified powertrains and technical limits

The manufacturer describes an initial 100kW (136hp) electric motor and a 50kWh battery with a headline range of up to 337km under WLTP testing. The range is variant dependent and comes from regulatory testing rather than an independent motorway trial. The e-208 shares related EV architecture, yet trim, controls, body and exact homologation are not identical by default.

What it is like to live with this configuration

Compact size and urban EV drive can be an advantage for buyers with private charging and short regular trips. A small hatch cannot substitute for the load space of a large estate or family SUV, and the battery percentage display does not settle the real distance to the next charger. Buyers should model their longest normal journey with winter and motorway allowances. The Corsa-e’s early battery-and-motor combination was shared within a wider group of small electric cars, yet that does not make parts, warranties, software or charging faults interchangeable across brands. Service evidence should refer to the exact Opel VIN and locally approved procedures, not another model’s internet forum report.

What a used buyer should check in 2026

For a used Corsa-e check original charging cables, AC charging, fast charging if available, the charging flap, HVAC and tyre sizes. Request qualified battery health and software diagnostic evidence; do not attempt battery enclosure service yourself. Confirm navigation and assistance equipment on the actual German car and whether imported versions need regional connectivity changes.

Alternatives and the decision

Peugeot e-208 is its obvious EV comparison but cabin ergonomics and styling differ. A MINI Electric is another short-distance-oriented alternative, while the original petrol Corsa may be simpler when a charge point is unavailable.
