2022 Audi Q4 e-tron: Specifications, Powertrains and Used Buying Guide
Audi Q4 e-tron (2022 local-market production or sale period) — this vehicle profile concentrates on the documented EU configuration, not an assumed global specification. Generation or platform: MEB. Body type: SUV.
Market and model-year context
The Audi Q4 e-tron brought a compact luxury presentation to the MEB electric SUV platform. For 2022 European buyers, however, the central difference is not merely leather and a badge: Audi sold materially different batteries and rear- versus all-wheel-drive arrangements. The regular high-roof SUV here should not be merged with the more raked Q4 Sportback e-tron.
Powertrains and regional specification
Audi’s original technical material identifies a 55 kWh gross battery with 51.5 kWh net for the Q4 35 and an 82 kWh gross pack with 76.6 kWh net for the Q4 40 and Q4 50 quattro. Net energy is the portion available for driving; confusing it with gross capacity inflates comparisons. The Q4 50 quattro uses additional front-drive hardware compared with the rear-drive Q4 40.
Documented EU versions
- EU — Q4 35 e-tron: rear-drive battery-electric; drive: RWD; transmission: single-speed reduction. Recorded source details: battery gross kwh: 55; battery usable kwh: 51.5.
- EU — Q4 40 e-tron: rear-drive battery-electric; drive: RWD; transmission: single-speed reduction. Recorded source details: battery gross kwh: 82; battery usable kwh: 76.6.
- EU — Q4 50 e-tron quattro: dual-motor battery-electric; drive: AWD; transmission: single-speed reductions. Recorded source details: battery gross kwh: 82; battery usable kwh: 76.6.
Who should consider this model
Cabin design, visibility and practical doors favour the SUV for motorists who do not want a coupé-like roofline. The 35 suits predictable local travel with modest charging requirements; the larger-battery 40 or 50 makes more sense for motorway use, though larger wheels and AWD equipment add load and can change consumption. “quattro” in this EV means electric drive control, not the same hardware as older mechanical systems.
What to check on a used example
A 2026 used inspection should confirm the battery label, original market, DC charging and AC charging hardware, wheel package and whether navigation and driver assistance are enabled. Check that software and workshop actions were applied and obtain an independent battery diagnostic where available. Do not transfer facelift range improvements backward to the earliest builds.
Alternatives worth comparing
The VW ID.4 and Škoda Enyaq share platform context and can offer less costly or differently packaged alternatives. The Volvo XC40 Recharge supplies a more upright interpretation; the Kia EV6 trades toward a lower roof and different charging hardware. Used price alone rarely communicates usable battery or equipment.
Limits of the available evidence
Audi’s 2021 manufacturer documentation supports the original 2022-era technical platform. It is not a certificate of a specific registered car’s WLTP range or every nation’s trim availability. Later charging improvements and battery changes are deliberately excluded.
