The 2023 German EQE SUV requires especially careful model identification. Its name resembles the EQE sedan, but the SUV is the separate X294 body family. Mercedes also sold several EQE SUV outputs: a rear-drive 350+ and 300 as well as all-wheel-drive 350 4MATIC and 500 4MATIC configurations. A generic EQE listing therefore conceals major differences.
Mercedes’ German sales release dated May 2023 documents these grades and different WLTP combined electricity-consumption bands. The numbers represent a formal European test procedure and are not directly interchangeable with the US EPA range estimates displayed by North American sales listings. Performance AMG SUVs should be researched separately and never inserted into the ordinary EQE SUV spec table.

Strengths and ownership compromises
For a buyer prioritizing quiet luxury, seating comfort, cabin refinement and driver assistance, the EQE SUV has an obvious appeal. Its size, mass, wheels and advanced electronics may also affect tyres, insurance and repair costs, so a seemingly attractive used price is not the only budget input.

During inspection, verify the exact battery/motor grade, charging functionality, air-suspension configuration if installed, warning messages and complete service history. Determine whether software features and digital subscriptions are still active. Run any VIN-dependent campaigns with the manufacturer rather than assuming early vehicles share identical remedies.
Alternatives and who should consider it
Compare the BMW iX or Audi Q8 e-tron on German-market equipment and WLTP methodology. The EQE SUV can be an excellent long-distance luxury format when charging infrastructure and running costs are understood, but that is an ownership fit, not a reliability ranking.
