Context and model-year identity

Li Auto introduced the L6 in China in April 2024 as a five-seat large family SUV with a range-extender system. That powertrain matters: the road wheels are driven by electric motors while an onboard petrol engine supports longer-distance energy supply, so it is neither a conventional non-plug-in hybrid nor a pure battery-electric SUV. The company announced Pro and Max trims and immediate April deliveries, establishing 2024 commercial availability. A 2026 used buyer outside China should not confuse the L6 with larger L7/L8/L9 family vehicles or assume all market software and dealer functions transfer with a grey import.

2024 powertrain and market specifications

Li Auto’s launch release gives the L6 a 4,925 mm length and 2,920 mm wheelbase, dual-motor intelligent AWD and maximum drive output of 300 kW. The manufacturer quotes 212 km electric-only CLTC range and up to 1,390 km total CLTC range with the range-extender system. Both are Chinese certification-cycle or marketing figures, not European WLTP results or independently measured motorway journeys. The Pro and Max have different hardware and convenience features, including cabin entertainment and a refrigerator offered with the Max configuration. Exact software and ADAS availability should be confirmed by build and registration environment.

What to inspect on a used vehicle

Buyers should think through how a range extender would actually be used. If daily charging is easy, electric operation can cover many local trips, but regular long-distance driving still involves petrol-engine maintenance and fuel consumption. Request documented service for both the range-extender engine and electric drive, battery-condition information and evidence that the car charges properly from compatible equipment. Examine the physical cabin because five-seat comfort rather than maximum seat count is the core purpose of this model. Software subscriptions, account transfer and service support can be critical to a used imported vehicle.

Who it suits and alternative choices

A used L6 is most appealing to a family wanting a roomy electrically driven SUV without relying entirely on public charging for long trips. A full BEV such as a Chinese-market XPeng may eliminate the engine but demands different journey planning. A conventional hybrid can be simpler where charging is rarely used. The manufacturer’s published acceleration and range should not be mistaken for a personal road test or warranty on a used vehicle. The buying decision depends on domestic service access, charging and the seller’s transparency about registration and digital features.
