An all-new Brazilian workhorse in June 2020

Fiat presented the second-generation Strada in Brazil on 26 June 2020 as a significant redesign of a long-running compact pickup. Its single or extended work-focused Cabine Plus configurations and new four-door, five-seat double cab gave the nameplate a different mix of commercial and family use. This entry is about the genuinely new second generation on sale during calendar 2020, not the earlier Strada that could also have been built or registered in the same year. The distinction determines chassis, cabin and equipment research.

Brazilian flex-fuel power is not European petrol power

The original Endurance used Fiat’s 1.4-litre Fire flex-fuel engine, advertised at 85 cv on petrol and 88 cv on ethanol. Freedom and Volcano variants introduced the 1.3-litre Firefly flex-fuel engine, rated at 101 cv on petrol and 109 cv on ethanol. Here cv represents the Brazilian metric-horsepower specification: it must not silently become U.S. mechanical horsepower or a different export motor. Ethanol and gasoline torque and output differ by the specified fuel, which matters when comparing a Brazilian used listing with international specifications.

Cab body and load use define suitability

A Cabine Plus is often more suitable when its load bed and work duties dominate; the double-cab layout brings more useful passenger access but different packaging. Fiat advertised five seats and four doors for the new double cab, plus electronic stability control and hill-start assistance across the launch range. It described TC+ traction assistance for slippery low-speed situations; that is not evidence of four-wheel drive. Confirm actual payload, tires and local legal carrying limits from the grade’s homologation sheet before using a small pickup commercially.

Equipment cannot be generalized across the range

The manufacturer promoted a seven-inch Uconnect setup with wireless phone projection, but launch equipment varied by variant and optional pack. On a used Endurance, do not assume that Volcano headlamps, rear camera or cabin materials came as standard. Check infotainment behavior, water ingress near cabin seals, bed condition and previous fleet use directly. The original Fiat press communication explains features but is not an independent test of cabin quietness, durability or crash protection. Avoid inventing safety star ratings that have not been tied to a market and test date.

Who should buy and what to compare

The 2020 new Strada suits Brazilian buyers needing a maneuverable compact utility vehicle with fuel flexibility and the option of real rear doors. Those towing heavy trailers, requiring four-wheel drive or transporting large commercial loads may need a larger pickup. Relevant local alternatives include Volkswagen Saveiro, Renault Oroch and Fiat Toro, but they occupy different sizes and possibly different price bands. Before buying, investigate maintenance, fuel-system condition on the actual vehicle and VIN-linked campaigns. Later Strada automatic or turbo powertrains must not be inserted into the original 2020 record.
