2021 Peugeot 2008 / e-2008 — UK sale year
The second-generation Peugeot 2008 sold in the UK in 2021 was offered as a conventional petrol/diesel crossover and as the electric e-2008. Its design and raised cabin suggest a single model, but choosing the powertrain is much more important than choosing an exterior color. The electric car does not inherit its later facelift battery or motor simply because an online listing uses the same badge.
Model identity and documented powertrains
The original UK manufacturer order announcement lists 1.2-liter PureTech petrol variants including 100-PS manual and 130-PS manual or EAT8 automatic, plus a 1.5-liter BlueHDi 100-PS manual in the launch range. The e-2008 has a 50-kWh manufacturer-stated pack and a 136-hp electric motor. Peugeot’s original up-to-206-mile WLTP estimate was tied to that UK launch, not to every trim, temperature or later 2022 efficiency revision.
- PureTech 100 petrol: 1.2 L turbo petrol, 100 PS; 6-speed manual; FWD
- PureTech 130 petrol: 1.2 L turbo petrol, 130 PS; 6-speed manual or EAT8; FWD
- e-2008 electric: electric 100 kW/136 hp; single-speed reduction; FWD; battery_kWh: 50 manufacturer headline, original_WLTP_max_miles: 206 UK launch claim, specification dependent
Where the 2021 version makes sense
For routine local commuting with reliable charging access, the e-2008 offers quiet operation and avoids conventional fuel stops, with a small footprint suitable for crowded streets. A petrol 2008 can be simpler to live with when public charging is difficult; choosing the 100-PS or 130-PS version should depend on usual load and roads. Family buyers should try child-seat installation and rear-door access rather than relying solely on an exterior crossover label.
Limitations and market distinctions
Energy use and charging time change with road speed, weather and charger capability. The quoted 100-kW rapid charging figure is a capability limit under suitable conditions, not a promise that every charge stays at peak power. Likewise, the 2023 facelift brought a different 54-kWh pack and 156-hp motor and must not be transplanted to a 2021 car. Small crossover boots remain a constraint for owners frequently moving large luggage.
Buying used in 2026
Check the exact production month and battery specification on an e-2008, along with service campaigns and charging records. For a PureTech petrol or BlueHDi diesel example, request the correct engine-code service history and confirm local emissions eligibility; avoid diagnosing a particular defect without inspecting the vehicle. Compare Renault Captur for more flexible cabin packaging or Vauxhall Corsa-e when compact hatchback dimensions matter more than a raised driving position.
