2021 XPeng G3i: 1st-generation facelift
XPeng’s G3i is the revised version of its original G3 electric crossover, with Chinese customer deliveries beginning in August 2021. The facelift is a meaningful shopping distinction rather than a different model generation: it is a better starting point for researching cabin technology and exterior updates, but used advertisements sometimes group every 2021 G3 together.
Which 2021 vehicle is this?
The XPeng 2021 annual report describes the G3i as a mid-cycle facelift, not an all-new vehicle platform. It records a July unveiling followed by deliveries in August, a 2,625-mm wheelbase and version-dependent NEDC rated distance of 460–520 km. Those company-provided figures describe China-market cars; they are not WLTP figures or evidence of equivalent range in export markets.
This profile applies to China and identifies a vehicle offered during calendar 2021. Registrations, facelifts and equipment in other jurisdictions are not interchangeable. A specification mentioned below applies only to the named version; optional equipment and later software or homologation changes need separate documentation.

What matters in everyday ownership
As an urban electric crossover, the G3i packages a relatively compact wheelbase with an elevated cabin and technology-first approach. Its crucial distinction from the G3 is a different design/feature package rather than an entirely independent chassis. A buyer wanting lower charging anxiety must compare the exact battery variant and charging availability, rather than assuming the top NEDC figure belongs to the least expensive configuration.
Used-buying checks in 2026
Check that the listing describes a true G3i built after the launch, not an earlier G3 wearing generic model photos. Confirm battery chemistry, battery-state diagnostics, charging connector, software permissions and warranty/service terms that apply to the actual country of use. Imported G3i vehicles can face connected-service constraints beyond ordinary battery aging. Inspect tire loading and collision repairs through competent specialists.
Alternatives and limits
A conventional G3 is a potentially lower-cost alternative but loses some facelift-era refinements. XPeng P5 provides a more sedan-like cabin and different powertrain packaging. BYD Yuan-class EVs and MG models belong in the wider 2021 China electric crossover comparison; their CLTC, NEDC and local certification values should not be combined on one scale.
