2022 Honda Civic: Specifications, Variants and Buying Guide
2022 Honda Civic — this record documents the US formal model-year configuration of the sedan. It does not assume a single worldwide drivetrain, certified range or equipment list.
What changed and why it matters
The eleventh-generation 2022 Honda Civic sedan was a complete redesign, and that matters far more to a used buyer than a minor change in badge or equipment. Honda moved toward cleaner exterior styling and a less visually busy dashboard, keeping the sedan's accessible footprint. The model also has two distinct four-cylinder engine families in its U.S. range, so a blanket statement that every 2022 Civic is turbocharged or equally powerful would be wrong.
Powertrains, batteries and 2022 market specifications
- US · LX / Sport sedan — 2.0 L naturally aspirated I4 gasoline; FWD; CVT. engine displacement l: 2.0; output hp: 158.
- US · EX / Touring sedan — 1.5 L turbocharged I4 gasoline; FWD; CVT. engine displacement l: 1.5; output hp: 180.
Who should consider it?
The 158-horsepower naturally aspirated 2.0-liter version is the simpler choice for buyers who prize straightforward commuting over maximum acceleration. EX and Touring sedans bring the 180-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo and additional comfort content. Both are front-wheel drive with a continuously variable transmission in the U.S. sedan specification here. Families should evaluate real rear-seat needs and cargo loading rather than assume a sedan substitutes for a taller hatchback or crossover.
Ownership trade-offs and limitations
The manufacturer's safety-assistance and infotainment offerings vary with grade and must be checked on the individual car. The existence of a feature in the Touring brochure does not establish that it is fitted to an LX. Ask for documented maintenance, inspect tire wear and accident repairs, and confirm transmission behavior during a test drive. Long-term failure rates cannot be established from the manufacturer launch specification alone.
Worthwhile alternatives
Against a 2022 Toyota Corolla sedan, the Civic favors buyers who prefer its cabin organization, driving position and specific engine choices; a Hyundai Elantra offers another styling and equipment mix. A Civic hatchback is a separate body style and should not be silently assigned sedan cargo measurements. This archive record is explicitly the U.S. 2022 sedan, not every global eleventh-generation Civic powertrain.
2022 identity and data caveats
The 2022 Civic Si, Type R, and international hybrid derivatives are not folded into the listed sedan-engine claims.
