2022 Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric: Specifications, Variants and Buying Guide
2022 Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric — this record documents the EU calendar-2022 commercial introduction/sale-year configuration of the hatchback. It does not assume a single worldwide drivetrain, certified range or equipment list.
What changed and why it matters
The 2022 Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is a separate battery-electric product from the combustion-era Mégane hatchbacks sharing part of its name. Based on the CMF-EV platform, the new electric Mégane uses compact exterior dimensions and a high-roofline-influenced cabin layout to occupy the space between a classic family hatch and a small crossover. Two battery choices formed part of the early European proposition, and their certified distance claims should not be conflated.
Powertrains, batteries and 2022 market specifications
- EU · EV40 130 — single-motor battery electric; FWD; single-speed. battery capacity kWh: 40; output hp: 130; wltp range km: up to 300 km. Cycle: WLTP.
- EU · EV60 220 — single-motor battery electric; FWD; single-speed. battery capacity kWh: 60; output hp: 220; wltp range km: up to 450–470 km depending on configuration. Cycle: WLTP.
Who should consider it?
An EV40 130 is best considered an everyday urban or regional car: Renault paired a 40 kWh pack with a 130 hp drive and quoted up to 300 km WLTP. The EV60 220 increases nominal battery capacity to 60 kWh and power to 220 hp, with configurations marketed at approximately 450–470 km WLTP. These are manufacturer's European cycle figures; charging equipment and some supporting specifications depended on version and country.
Ownership trade-offs and limitations
For buyers without dependable overnight charging, the smaller battery's lower purchase cost should not obscure the practical need for range margin. Confirm whether the particular vehicle has the DC charging and AC onboard-charger configuration expected by the seller; a brochure's maximum belongs only to versions carrying that hardware. Wheel choice, cabin heating and high-speed travel also affect real journeys. Check operating-system updates, battery records and tire condition rather than assuming every early EV shares the same equipment.
Worthwhile alternatives
The Volkswagen ID.3 offers another compact European electric hatchback concept, while the Kia Niro EV has a taller crossover emphasis. The MG4 later provided an additional value-focused alternative, but its market arrival must be considered separately. The Mégane E-Tech Electric is especially relevant to buyers seeking a relatively compact footprint with an integrated digital cabin, provided they select the battery and charging trim intentionally.
2022 identity and data caveats
Only the distinct battery-electric Mégane is covered. No combustion Mégane powertrain, U.S. specification or later AC/DC charger is inferred for 2022.
