The Invicto arrived in India in July 2023 as Maruti Suzuki’s move into a more premium three-row family vehicle. Its close relationship with Toyota’s Innova Hycross must be recognized when comparing engineering, but the Invicto badge brings its own grade strategy and equipment. It belongs in a 2023 India sale-year archive even though other international markets may never have offered it.
Documented engine, battery and drivetrain options
Maruti specifies a 2.0-liter petrol-electric full-hybrid system paired with an e-CVT and quotes 23.24 km/L in India’s certified test regime. The release describes seven- and eight-seat arrangements and a nickel-metal-hydride traction battery. None of that means every Invicto includes the same seating, camera equipment or electric conveniences. A full hybrid does not need an external plug and must not be labelled a PHEV.
Equipment, practicality and market trade-offs
Its appeal is transporting more occupants while preserving the efficiency potential of a full hybrid in busy Indian roads. Nevertheless, occasional use of the third row, parking in tight apartment garages and luggage carried with every seat occupied should be evaluated in person. Premium materials or a powered tailgate are not a substitute for checking how many people can travel comfortably on a long journey.
Checks for 2026 used-vehicle shoppers
A 2026 buyer should establish original grade and seat layout, confirm service records and any hybrid warranty, and check connected features, cameras and powered mechanisms. There is no basis to invent traction-battery degradation rates for this relatively recent model. Compare the actual fuel-use pattern of the household against official Indian cycle values, keeping different certification standards separate.
Alternatives and buying verdict
The Toyota Innova Hycross is the close technical reference but differences in branding and equipment are worth pricing individually. The Kia Carens offers an alternative with different engine and seating assumptions. The Invicto makes most sense for buyers who genuinely need a large people mover with hybrid operation, not simply a taller substitute for a compact SUV.
