The 2024 Dacia Spring is a compact city electric car whose value should be judged against a very specific daily journey. The revised model gained an extensively redesigned exterior and interior without turning into a larger long-distance hatchback. Its tiny footprint and straightforward role distinguish it from used family EVs, while also creating limits to comfort and motorway flexibility that a buyer should test first.
Powertrains and market-specific specifications
Dacia's February 2024 release identifies a 65-hp electric powertrain and new digital equipment. An additional 45-hp variant appears in the updated model documentation, so listings cannot be evaluated by body style alone. The manufacturer's early quoted WLTP energy consumption of 14.6 kWh per 100 km was noted as pending approval, and must not be presented as a certified figure. Later 70-hp and 100-hp Spring engines belong to a subsequent revision and cannot be carried backwards into 2024.
Equipment, usability and model-year changes
The revised cabin includes a configurable 7-inch instrument display and a 10-inch central touchscreen on applicable trim levels. Those devices do not automatically imply navigation or smartphone support on every low-cost specification. Try the rear seat and boot with realistic shopping and family items. In addition, check the original country's charging connector and local equipment, especially for used imports between EU markets and beyond.
Used-buyer inspection and ownership trade-offs
A used Spring should be charged during inspection where practical, with high-voltage diagnostics performed by qualified personnel when there are warnings. Review tyre condition, door seals, evidence of urban parking damage and the manufacturer's VIN-specific service instructions. Charging on public networks requires checking connector compatibility and the vehicle's actual charge-power limits, not only whether the seller calls it an EV.
Which buyers should consider it?
It makes sense when a short daily commute, low-speed city use and dependable charging define the vehicle's life. A used Renault Zoe or Fiat 500e may provide a different performance or comfort balance but also greater purchase complexity. Anyone regularly travelling long distances should calculate charging time and route redundancy rather than treating the Spring's low acquisition price as the only cost.
