Identity and model-year context
The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire began sales in India on 11 November 2024. That is the relevant calendar-year anchor; it should not be merged with the outgoing Dzire sedan, which was also visible in 2024 used listings. Suzuki gave this generation a new exterior identity and a 3,995 mm length, keeping it in India’s compact-sedan category. The model is related in market positioning to the new Swift, but a sedan badge and similar underlying engine do not make body dimensions, trim equipment or spare parts automatically interchangeable. Future exports announced by Suzuki are not proof that every destination sold it in 2024.
Powertrain and market details
The India-market Z-series 1.2-litre gasoline engine produces 60 kW and 111.7 Nm in the manufacturer launch specification. The CNG configuration is separately rated at 51.3 kW and 101.8 Nm. Petrol buyers can select a five-speed manual or five-speed automated gear shift (AGS) depending on version, whereas the launch S-CNG version uses a manual. Maruti published certified consumption values of 24.79 km/L for the petrol manual, 25.71 km/L for the petrol AGS and 33.73 km/kg on CNG. These figures come from Indian regulatory testing and must not be transformed into unlabelled US mpg or European WLTP claims.
Used buying: equipment and practicality
Practical checks include verifying whether the car is a factory CNG vehicle rather than a later conversion, assessing available boot room with the CNG installation and checking service support for the exact fuel system. Maruti highlighted standard six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assistance and further equipment on eligible versions, but sunroof and surround camera features should be confirmed by grade rather than attributed to all cars. Test AGS behavior at low speeds and make sure service invoices align with the VIN. Buyers should also check tyres, repairs, suspension and scheduled work in the official local handbook.
Who it suits, limitations and alternatives
This Dzire is particularly relevant to Indian buyers seeking a small family sedan with strong cabin accessibility and a useful separate boot. A hatchback such as the Swift is easier to park in the tightest spaces, while a Honda Amaze provides another compact-sedan comparison. Choosing petrol versus S-CNG should depend on local refueling, boot requirements and annual mileage instead of taking a manufacturer laboratory consumption figure as a guaranteed saving. The 2024 model is newly launched rather than a mere facelift; that generational difference is essential when searching used stock and parts.
