Context and model-year identity

Peugeot’s 2024 E-208 is the electric form of the facelifted first-generation 208 hatchback, not an all-new second-generation 208. The electric model gained new visual details and powertrain choices around the facelift, so a used shopper must distinguish the older 100 kW electric configuration from the newer 115 kW specification. This article covers the latter, as documented in Peugeot’s 2024 corporate material for European markets. A petrol 208 or another regional-market vehicle bearing the same badge is not assumed to share its battery, charger or running costs.

2024 powertrain and market specifications

Peugeot’s 2024 specification for the upgraded E-208 gives an electric motor rated at 115 kW, equivalent in the company’s marketing to 156 hp, coupled with a 51 kWh battery. The manufacturer quotes up to 410 km on the combined WLTP cycle in the relevant version. That figure is a homologated comparison number, not a guarantee for a used vehicle in winter or on high-speed motorways. Peugeot also describes standard and optional AC onboard charging configurations and a claimed rapid-charge window under specified DC equipment. What a listing calls ‘fast charging’ must be checked against the actual charger and software fitted.

What to inspect on a used vehicle

The buyer who works mostly in town should focus on driving position, physical entry into the rear seats, luggage access and home-charging arrangement. Peugeot’s small steering wheel and elevated instrument layout suit some drivers better than others, so sit in the car for a proper test rather than relying on photos. Confirm battery warranty transfer conditions, charging-cable inclusion, service and software campaign records, and whether DC rapid charging works at a compatible public station. Used battery-health evidence can help but should be interpreted by the manufacturer-approved method. Do not treat a 51 kWh battery label as measured usable energy.

Who it suits and alternative choices

The E-208 makes sense as a stylish compact EV where parking is tight and local charging is reliable. A Renault 5 E-Tech of similar dimensions deserves comparison, although early 2024 Renault delivery and battery timing is different. The regular petrol 208 remains a valid alternative where charging is unpredictable. Check trim and motor carefully: a cheaper advertisement may describe the previous electric drive system despite using an almost identical nameplate. All 410 km references here are WLTP, never EPA or independent real-world range.
