Renault revived the Scenic name as an electric family crossover, and the first French customer deliveries were scheduled for spring 2024. This is not the old combustion-engined Scenic MPV updated with a battery: the new car uses a dedicated electric architecture and a distinctly SUV-like seating position. A second-hand buyer should therefore approach it as a 2024-generation electric vehicle, checking charging arrangements, battery configuration and regional digital services rather than relying on experience with earlier Scenic models. This record focuses on the documented 2024 French launch.
Powertrains, equipment and market specifications
Renault’s French ordering announcement identifies two battery classes: a 60 kWh comfort-range option with a maker-reported driving distance up to 430 kilometres WLTP, and an 87 kWh long-range option associated with up to 625 kilometres WLTP for the relevant configuration. Renault also describes a motor rating up to 160 kW in the higher-powered specification. These figures require their battery, wheel and homologation qualifications; a 625-kilometre laboratory result must not be presented as expected winter motorway endurance. OpenR Link’s built-in applications and optional transparent-to-opaque panoramic glass roof also vary by finish and options.
Checking a used example
Before choosing a nearly new Scenic E-Tech, determine whether the candidate is the smaller- or larger-battery model. Check the registered country’s AC and DC connector arrangement, charging-network access, proof of software servicing, tyre condition and documentation for battery coverage. Test the seats with actual family passengers and check bulky luggage against the loading aperture. Some buyers may value the more upright cabin compared with a low electric sedan, while others will find the size unnecessary for short solo trips. Look at the real charging stops rather than basing a route entirely on a certified range figure.
Who should buy it, and alternatives
The Scenic E-Tech is especially interesting for a household that can charge regularly and wants a dedicated electric family crossover. Compare the equivalent 2024 Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen ID.4 or Skoda Enyaq where marketed; do not presume identical national specifications. Households without convenient home or work charging should calculate time and public charging costs carefully before assuming an EV will be the more convenient ownership choice. Its strongest case comes from matching the right battery to a family’s actual routine.
