The 2024 fourth-generation Skoda Superb liftback is a five-door flagship, not the similarly named Superb Combi estate. Its exceptionally accessible rear opening is a practical advantage when carrying luggage that would not pass easily through a small saloon aperture. It also gives buyers an opportunity to select a spacious car without automatically moving into a larger SUV. The generation and body style must be fixed before applying any engine or battery data.

Powertrains and market-specific specifications

Skoda's May 2024 powertrain briefing identifies a new 1.5 TSI with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance rated at 110 kW, along with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel choices, DSG transmissions and available four-wheel drive on selected higher-output cars. A top 2.0 TSI version is rated at 195 kW. Crucially, the plug-in hybrid was initially available on the Combi; Skoda said the Superb Hatch iV would follow later. Giving every early-2024 liftback a 120-km WLTP electric range would be incorrect.

Equipment, usability and model-year changes

The revised cabin mixes touchscreen functions with Skoda's Smart Dials, and the manufacturer highlights updated headlights and available adaptive chassis control. Equipment matters because lower-priced ex-fleet examples may omit popular comfort options. Validate local headlights, suspension specification and driver-assistance package using build records rather than assuming an L&K press-car interior was standard.

Used-buyer inspection and ownership trade-offs

Used shoppers should test DSG operation, inspect the tailgate and its power mechanism where equipped, verify maintenance records and check tyre condition. A diesel commuter may have an entirely different emissions and servicing profile from a mild-hybrid petrol car. Any battery-health assumption must be tied to the correct electrified variant, while local recalls and warranties require the VIN and original market.

Which buyers should consider it?

The Superb Hatch serves buyers seeking excellent passenger room and long-distance accommodation in a discreet body. A Volkswagen Passat in Europe is wagon-only in this period, making body-style comparisons important; a BMW 5 Series offers a different cost and driving proposition. For high annual motorway mileage, compare the 2.0 TDI only with equivalent diesel alternatives and actual local emissions rules.
