Wuling’s Binguo Plus was commercially introduced in China in March 2024 as a larger member of the Binguo electric hatchback family. Its Plus suffix means something substantial for a used buyer: the body and interior packaging are bigger than those of the ordinary Binguo, not just a different wheel design. SAIC-GM-Wuling presented it as a compact family-capable EV with a more generous rear cabin and cargo solution. A shopper searching second-hand classifieds should therefore establish whether a car is the Binguo, the Binguo Plus, or an export-badged derivative before matching any battery or parts data.
Verified powertrains and equipment
General Motors’ Chinese joint-venture announcement identifies a 2,560 mm wheelbase and an electric motor producing up to 75 kW and 180 Nm. The two market launch versions had manufacturer-rated 401 km and 510 km range, with different price and pack configurations. These Chinese figures were not presented as European WLTP or US EPA certified numbers and should never be converted directly into equivalent real-world range. The Binguo Plus also introduced a revised digital cabin with a 10.1-inch centre screen and greater quoted total cargo potential with rear seats folded.
What to check before buying used
If assessing a used Plus, inspect the rear-seat folding mechanism, hatch opening, battery undertray, tyre size and body panels with particular attention to city-use knocks. Test normal AC charging and, where safe and available, public DC connectivity; ask the owner to demonstrate that its charging standard suits the local network. Verify Chinese software language, connected-service activation and any export conversion work. The battery’s health cannot be inferred from the manufacturer’s optimistic range headline alone, and a proper diagnostic should come from a qualified EV service provider.
Best fit, compromises and competitors
Binguo Plus suits budget-sensitive drivers who want more cabin space than a very small city EV, especially where everyday journeys are predictable. It is not a universal long-distance alternative simply because one variant quotes more than 500 km. Compare Wuling Binguo, BYD Dolphin and Geely Galaxy E5 using similar Chinese rating standards, size and charging support. Markets outside China need independent checks for homologation, manufacturer warranty transfer, servicing and connector compatibility.
