2024 XPeng G6: Specs, Variants and Used Buying Guide

The 2024 Chinese XPeng G6 belongs to the SEPA 2.0 fast-charging electric-SUV family that started before calendar 2024. XPeng’s April 2024 addition of a G6 580 Plus version was an equipment and market-positioning update, not the substantially restyled later G6 that appears in newer online galleries.

VEHICLE OVERVIEWMotorRift

The 2024 Chinese XPeng G6 belongs to the SEPA 2.0 fast-charging electric-SUV family that started before calendar 2024. XPeng’s April 2024 addition of a G6 580 Plus version was an equipment and market-positioning update, not the substantially restyled later G6 that appears in newer online galleries. Because Chinese EV brands update software and trims rapidly, buying the wrong generation from an undated online specification list is particularly easy. The most useful identifier is the exact Chinese trim and manufacture date rather than only the G6 nameplate.

Verified powertrains and equipment

XPeng’s own April 11, 2024 announcement records the 580 Plus offering with its broader 800V-class silicon-carbide platform and driver-assistance proposition. The 580 is a variant/range designation in the manufacturer’s Chinese sales language; it is not a US EPA value or guaranteed 580 km trip under all conditions. Earlier rear-drive and all-wheel-drive G6 versions also exist, so this record does not force one horsepower or battery-size figure onto every 2024 G6. In particular, a current export G6’s charging or driver-assistance data may not describe a 2024 Chinese used car.

What to check before buying used

Confirm build date, charger hardware, wheel size and software branch before paying a premium for advanced charging. A demonstration should include ordinary AC charging, camera and parking systems, and evidence of whichever assisted-driving package is actually enabled. Check whether connected features still work when the car is registered to a new owner. Inspect body and underfloor panels, tyres and service history; seek a specialist high-voltage inspection rather than attempting to test pack components. Driver-assistance systems require supervision and cannot be described as fully autonomous because of a marketing label.

Best fit, compromises and competitors

G6 is attractive to drivers who value a modern fast-charge electrical platform and an aerodynamically styled SUV, provided the chosen charger infrastructure supports it. The caveats are rapidly changing trims, software dependence and potentially limited cross-border support. Compare Tesla Model Y, Zeekr 7X and BYD Song L EV on their actual China-market model-year specifications; trim names and range methodologies are not interchangeable. A person driving mostly short urban errands should not overpay for charging capabilities they will rarely use.
