The Zeekr 001’s 2024 revision is a useful case study in why the year of an EV matters. The shooting-brake body did not first appear in 2024; rather, Zeekr announced a major update after earlier cars had already entered customer hands. The refreshed Chinese-market version brought an 800-volt electrical system and upgraded performance technology. A used listing for ‘Zeekr 001’ without an exact build and system version therefore cannot establish which charging and electronic hardware the vehicle contains.
Powertrains, equipment and market specifications
Zeekr’s February 2024 announcement describes silicon-carbide-based electric motors and claims acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 3.3 seconds for a high-performance configuration. It also identifies an enhanced sensor suite, including lidar, cameras and radar, and a revised high-voltage architecture. These are manufacturer figures and availability claims, not independently measured performance for every trim. The car’s precise battery capacity, CLTC range and market software should be established from its national build sheet instead of taking a current configurator at face value.
Checking a used example
For a 2024 used 001, ask the seller to show software version, charging-port standard, service history and warranty terms. When exported out of China, language support, connected services, maps, remote functionality and repair access can materially alter usability. The shooting-brake format promises useful cargo access, but the rear opening, visibility and passenger space should be tested against the owner’s real needs. Use manufacturer diagnostics and a competent EV inspection for high-voltage components rather than relying on a generic battery-percentage display alone.
Who should buy it, and alternatives
The 001 is relevant for shoppers who want an unusually shaped large electric car with strong manufacturer-claimed performance and a spacious body. Buyers in markets without an official Zeekr support network should price the inconvenience of repairs, software and charging adaptors before purchase. Alternatives depend on region and include the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo and other premium electric fastbacks. Above all, do not identify an older 400-volt example as the revised 800-volt model solely from its registration year or exterior photographs.
