2025 Suzuki Jimny Nomade: Specifications, Versions and Buying Guide
Scope: 2025 documented sale/production year; verified variant jurisdictions: JP. Figures apply only to the variants identified below.
In April 2025 Suzuki introduced the Jimny Nomade to Japanese buyers, finally giving the small off-road nameplate a five-door form in its home market. Its value is not primarily performance or technology; it is the ability to reach genuinely rough places with a proper part-time four-wheel-drive system while making rear-seat access less frustrating than on the short three-door Jimny.
2025 Specification and Market Differences
Suzuki confirms a dedicated reinforced ladder frame for the longer, heavier Nomade, continued front-engine/rear-drive layout and selectable part-time 4WD with low-range transfer. It retains a three-link rigid-axle arrangement. The Nomade is a four-seater, not a conventional five-seat family SUV. Suzuki's 2025 show specification lists 3,890 mm length, 1,645 mm width and 1,725 mm height, so buyers should not assume the same dimensions as Jimny Sierra.
| Market and version | Powertrain / drive | Verified figures |
|---|---|---|
| JP — Nomade 5-door | 1.5 L gasoline four-cylinder; part-time 4WD with low-range transfer | length: 3890 mm; width: 1645 mm; height: 1725 mm; seating: 4 |
Who Should Consider It?
The longer wheelbase and added doors help human access and luggage usability, but can also matter when cresting sharp terrain obstacles or trying to park in tiny spaces. This is a vehicle for a specific purpose: owners using rough tracks will appreciate hardware that most ordinary city crossovers omit. Drivers who never use the transfer case could find its ride and road performance compromises hard to justify.
Ownership and Used-Buyer Checks
Suzuki says collision-mitigation braking is standard and adaptive cruise control is associated with the four-speed automatic, not the manual. That exact distinction should be preserved when checking imports and used advertisements. Buyers should inspect underside damage, tyre condition and differential/transfer-case operation. The car's initial Japanese release date is confirmed; delivery lead times and later order policies must not be inferred from the launch release.
Alternatives and Verdict
The older three-door Jimny is still easier to manoeuvre in some environments, whereas the Nomade offers extra doors and practical flexibility. A Dacia Duster or small crossover may make more sense if paved-road comfort dominates. Japan's Nomade overlaps with Indian-market five-door Jimny production, but a Japanese-market specification is not evidence of identical Indian equipment or emissions approval.
