MONA M03 was commercially launched in China in August 2024 and entered the 2025 used market as a comparatively new electric liftback, rather than a concept still awaiting its first customers. Its long, low roofline and large rear opening create a different shopping proposition from a short city hatchback. XPeng presented three versions at introduction and began deliveries in September 2024. Therefore a 2025-sale example should be classified by its physical hardware and manufacture date, rather than by assuming that all later MONA software and trim announcements were present from the start.

This original China-market MONA M03 is a battery-electric car with single-speed electric drive; its entry price of RMB119,800 quoted in XPeng's launch announcement is historical context, not a 2026 used-car valuation. The manufacturer placed particular emphasis on efficiency and intelligent functions, but the original manufacturer China launch identified 515-km and 620-km CLTC versions; a contemporary independent vehicle database lists 51.8/62.2-kWh packs and corresponding 140/160-kW motors. These are initial 2024 launch trims, not specifications of the altered 2026 range. One broad MONA range claim can obscure motor, wheel and assisted-driving package changes. An XPeng announcement about future chips or software roadmaps is not evidence that a particular second-hand vehicle has those capabilities.

Ownership and Inspection Priorities
Practical checks begin with cabin ergonomics, the space under the sloping rear glass, charger compatibility and the software version currently installed. A hatch-style opening is helpful for bulky bags but rear headroom and the shape of the luggage compartment matter more than nominal litres for many households. Ask to see the battery and vehicle history, inspect underbody protection and verify that mobile-app pairing transfers correctly to a new owner. Advanced assistance should be treated as driver support requiring supervision, not hands-free autonomy by default.
Alternatives and Buying Verdict
The MONA's strongest appeal is affordable access to an electric family-sized body with a technology-forward cabin. BYD's Seal 06 EV and other Chinese sedans may offer different packaging or equipment, while smaller hatchbacks can be easier to park. Compare cars using China's relevant certified range cycle, not an unconverted European WLTP headline. For exports, determine whether maps, apps, warranties and charging support function in the destination country before assuming a China-market specification travels intact.
