2026 BMW iX3 Neue Klasse: Battery and Charging Guide
DE market / documented 2026 sale year. BMW iX3 50 xDrive entered German customer deliveries in 2026 with 108.7-kWh usable battery and up to 805 km WLTP. Specifications and buying advice below apply only to the documented market and named configuration, not to every vehicle carrying this badge worldwide.
Verified regional configurations
- DE — iX3 50 xDrive: dual-motor battery electric; usable battery capacity: 108.7 kWh; range WLTP max: 805 km; DC peak charging: 400 kW. Test basis: WLTP.
The first Neue Klasse SUV is tangible
BMW announced and delivered examples of the new iX3 50 xDrive to initial German customers in January 2026. This matters for a research archive because a model reveal does not by itself establish commercial availability. The new iX3 inaugurates BMW’s Neue Klasse electric platform and must not be merged with the older iX3 rear-drive model simply because the badge is familiar. The technical and digital architecture differs markedly.
Energy and charging claims
BMW quotes 108.7 kWh of usable high-voltage battery energy and up to 805 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle for the iX3 50 xDrive. It also advertises DC charging power up to 400 kW and a manufacturer-calculated short-session range addition under specified conditions. Those are technical and certified-cycle claims, not records of independently driven kilometres or proof that every road-trip station can deliver 400 kW. Buyers should test the intended charging-network coverage.
New software experience
The vehicle introduces BMW’s updated digital interface and control architecture alongside a structural battery concept with cylindrical cells. Software features may influence navigation, assistance, comfort controls and charging planning over years of ownership. Check precisely what works locally, what receives over-the-air updates and which connected services carry time-limited entitlement. A desirable feature at delivery is not automatically covered by a perpetual subscription, particularly when an OEM introduces a new operating-system generation.
Who should choose it
The iX3 suits premium-EV buyers who regularly travel longer distances, value a spacious SUV and can use high-power charging networks. Its battery size and feature depth can be unnecessary expense for mainly short urban trips. Compare the Mercedes-Benz electric GLC and Audi Q6 e-tron by equivalent market pricing, certified range, luggage space and charging behavior. Keep the separately announced iX3 M60, for which orders were scheduled for 2027, out of this already-released 2026 customer configuration rather than presenting it as a current purchase.
