Why EVO is more than a badge
BYD confirmed ATTO 3 EVO UK ordering from 2 April 2026 after an extensive update to the familiar compact electric SUV. The revision is meaningful enough to warrant separate buyer attention because it changes the available drive layouts and dramatically increases advertised charging capability. It is still important to call it an updated ATTO 3 lineage, not an unrelated original nameplate or an EV trim already present in every market.
Two notably different versions
In BYD’s UK release, Design has a single motor and 313 PS, while Excellence adopts dual-motor all-wheel drive with a headline 449 PS. The published launch prices were £38,990 and £42,730 on the road, respectively, at the announcement date. They are historical launch references, not claims about discounts, present stock or future resale. Buyers should explicitly check which wheel, tire, motor and safety-equipment package comes with the trim they order.
Charging improvements and claims
The company reports peak DC charging up to 220 kW and approximately 25 minutes for a 10-to-80-percent session under specified test conditions. It also promotes a maximum electric range close to 510 km for certain configurations. Do not assume that a peak charging number persists for a whole session or that a metric WLTP figure equals miles from a UK real-world driving test. Charger reliability, route speed and temperature will still shape the experience.
Is it the right crossover
The case for the EVO is strongest when buyers value broad equipment, faster public charging and a choice between less complex rear drive and performance-oriented AWD. A buyer seeking the lowest purchase price or the smallest family EV may be better served by a different model. Cross-shop Kia EV3 and Hyundai Kona Electric with equivalent battery and equipment, and ask about BYD service reach, software updates, roadside assistance and battery-warranty exclusions. Earlier ATTO 3 reviews cannot be assumed to describe the EVO’s acceleration or charging behavior.
