Why the 2023 version matters
Chevrolet's new Montana reached Brazil in February 2023 as an important change from the earlier Montana generations. The third-generation double-cab pickup aims to combine family-crossover comfort with a usable open load bed in a compact footprint. It is a Latin American market vehicle with flex-fuel calibrations, not a North American Chevrolet Colorado specification dressed in a smaller nameplate.
Confirmed 2023 specifications
General Motors' original Brazil technical sheet identifies the 1.2-liter turbo flex-fuel engine throughout the launch range. It gives 132 cv running on petrol and 133 cv on ethanol, reflecting local Brazilian fuel convention rather than an SAE-horsepower comparison. The MT and LT grades were listed with six-speed manuals, while LTZ and Premier used six-speed automatics. GM's claimed load capacity differed by trim: 637 kg on MT and 600 kg on LTZ or Premier.
Strengths, compromises and intended buyer
The strongest buyer argument is a double-cab pickup sized for urban driving, with seating and convenience equipment nearer to a crossover than to a stripped-out work truck. The main limitation is that it is still a compact pickup: a buyer who regularly carries heavy equipment or tows should confirm certified local limits instead of assuming larger-truck capacity. The higher trim's screen, cameras, blind-spot alert and connected features were not standard on the base vehicle.
What to inspect before buying used
As a 2026 used purchase, check the service history with particular attention to the correct flex-fuel maintenance schedule, as well as underbody condition, load-bed damage, tyres and previous commercial use. Verify that the variant in the advertisement matches the transmission and payload shown on its identification papers. Original listed payload depends on equipment and cannot stand in for the car's remaining legal load after modifications or accessories.
Alternatives and the verdict
Choose the Montana if most driving is personal or light-duty business use and the open bed is genuinely helpful. Fiat Strada and Renault Oroch make relevant Brazil-market packaging comparisons, while a Chevrolet S10 serves buyers needing a larger truck class. The earlier Montana nameplate does not indicate parts or equipment compatibility with this new 2023 generation.
