Brazil has its own official vehicle-efficiency programme, and a US EPA or European WLTP number is not a substitute for a Brazilian PBEV entry. Buyers comparing 2020–2026 cars can use INMETRO historical tables to avoid mixing unlike regional test regimes.
Use the published year table
INMETRO makes PBEV datasets available for multiple calendar years including 2020 through 2026. Find the precise model, version, propulsion type and fuel as listed in the appropriate table. A nameplate sold under the same name in another market may have different engine or calibration. Do not attribute a current-table value to an older used car without confirming its variant identity.
Read the columns and methodology
The Brazilian system includes fuel economy and energy metrics, and INMETRO explains the methodology for electric-vehicle consumption reporting. A figure in km/l equivalent or MJ/km is not an EPA MPGe result just because both describe energy efficiency. For flex-fuel vehicles, specify the fuel rather than assuming gasoline and ethanol numbers mean the same thing.
Turn labels into local purchase math
Estimate the relevant annual distance and fuel mix, use local energy prices and compare models within the same PBEV reporting framework. Then add service, insurance, taxes and purchase-condition differences separately. The table does not certify reliability or resale value, and a favourable label does not mean every driver will repeat it in traffic or on the motorway.
Avoid mixing hybrid architectures under one badge
A Brazilian version may be flex-fuel, conventional petrol, plug-in hybrid or battery-electric; similar naming alone does not make its energy data interchangeable. Inspect the official table’s propulsion and fuel columns before converting the consumption figure to annual expense. A used imported vehicle not represented in the table should be recorded as unavailable rather than fitted to the nearest nameplate entry.
Who should choose it?
The best Brazilian comparison names the year table and exact version and avoids importing figures from abroad. Historical label data belongs beside, not instead of, independent inspection of a used vehicle.
Model-year and market scope
Brazil-only official-label guidance for cars commercially present in 2020–2026. No unverified local trim consumption or financial savings is asserted.
