2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N: Specifications, Variants and Buying Guide
2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N — this record documents the IN calendar-2022 commercial introduction/sale-year configuration of the SUV. It does not assume a single worldwide drivetrain, certified range or equipment list.
What changed and why it matters
Mahindra launched the Scorpio-N in June 2022 as a new body-on-frame SUV aimed at Indian families who wanted more traditional utility-vehicle construction than a typical urban crossover. Despite the Scorpio name, it is important not to substitute specifications from the simultaneously existing Scorpio Classic. The Scorpio-N introduced its own styling, passenger cabin, equipment ladder and engine configurations; this archive entry is its 2022 Indian introduction, not a generic Scorpio-family profile.
Powertrains, batteries and 2022 market specifications
- IN · TGDi petrol high-output — 2.0 L turbocharged gasoline; 2WD; 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic by grade. engine displacement l: 2.0; output ps: up to 200 PS at specified manufacturer grade.
- IN · mHawk diesel high-output — 2.2 L turbodiesel; 2WD or 4WD depending on grade; 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic by grade. engine displacement l: 2.2; output ps: up to 175 PS; certain grades lower.
Who should consider it?
The launch announcement set out a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an upper 200 PS output and a 2.2-liter diesel line reaching 175 PS in the relevant variants. Six-speed manual and automatic choices appeared across the range, while selectable four-wheel-drive capability was associated with suitable diesel grades rather than every vehicle carrying the Scorpio-N badge. Actual torque, wheel-drive system and features should be checked against the specific variant and build period.
Ownership trade-offs and limitations
For owners driving rough intercity routes, carrying large families or needing a more rugged chassis layout, that construction may be a genuine reason to choose the Scorpio-N. It also brings trade-offs in overall size, step-in height, city maneuverability and operating costs compared with a car-based crossover. Validate the installed seating arrangement, tire size, safety equipment and factory maintenance record. Do not infer a crash rating for a particular export-market car from the 2022 India brochure.
Worthwhile alternatives
A Tata Safari offers another Indian three-row family emphasis with a different vehicle architecture. Mahindra's XUV700 has a more road-focused platform, while the Scorpio Classic is a separate older-generation choice. The Scorpio-N suits customers who knowingly want a substantial SUV's engineering compromises instead of selecting it solely for its stronger engine headline or imposing appearance.
2022 identity and data caveats
Manufacturer horsepower is quoted in PS as published and is not relabelled mechanical hp. Only 2022 Indian configuration statements are presented.
