Tata launched the electric Curvv.ev in India on August 7, 2024, with initial deliveries beginning on August 23. The coupe-like roof gives it a different practical shape from a conventional upright SUV, and the electric acti.ev version should be distinguished from the separately launched petrol and diesel Curvv. This is not just a trim difference: the electric architecture, underfloor battery and charging requirements shape what a second-hand owner must evaluate. A 2024 registration alone does not identify whether an advertisement is for Curvv.ev 45 or 55.

Verified powertrains and equipment

Tata’s original manufacturer release documented 45 kWh and 55 kWh packs and published Indian certified launch-range figures of 502 km and 585 km respectively. Those values use the applicable Indian certification context, not US EPA or European WLTP. Tata presented the vehicle as a second acti.ev product, with a 500-litre advertised boot, and offered different equipment configurations according to variant. The larger battery is not proof of greater real-world range on every route, and no exact usable battery capacity is inferred from the pack’s public size figure.

What to check before buying used

Check charging compatibility at the facilities the car will actually use, especially if highway routes depend on intermittent DC chargers. Review battery-warranty documentation and completed vehicle software updates; an advertised feature may have changed since delivery. Verify the electronic tailgate, climate system, camera display and tyre specification, and assess rear headroom beneath the falling roofline before making a family decision. Used EVs should be inspected by a trained professional who can evaluate faults and relevant pack diagnostics without unsafe user access to high-voltage equipment.

Best fit, compromises and competitors

Curvv.ev is attractive when a household values distinctive design and can charge at home or work, but a boxier SUV may accommodate tall rear passengers and bulky objects more easily. Compare the MG Windsor EV, Tata Nexon.ev, MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3 according to passenger and luggage needs. Do not claim the headline launch range as a guaranteed 2026 winter or motorway distance, and do not use initial launch pricing as a current resale valuation.
