2026 Škoda Elroq: Which Battery and Motor to Choose?
Market scope: EU. Year basis: documented 2026 commercial sale / update.
What is different about this model?
The Elroq gives Škoda a smaller electric SUV than the Enyaq, but its purchase decision is not simply about physical dimensions. The European manufacturer's March 2026 material confirms commercial Elroq sales and announces a set of model-year improvements. The important caution is timing: an announced mid-year rollout is not proof that every Elroq registered during 2026 has the new hardware or digital functions. Build date and exact market documentation decide that question.
Powertrain and verified specifications
The 2026 technical update table identifies an Elroq 60 at 140 kW with a 61 kWh gross / 58 kWh net battery, an Elroq 85 at 210 kW with an 82/77 kWh pack, and an RS rated at 250 kW with the larger pack. The 60 is a value-oriented rear-drive version; the 85 is intended for extra flexibility between charges; RS adds a dual-motor performance focus. Quoted peak charging ratings are 105 kW and 165 kW, not guaranteed continuous charging speeds.
Which version makes sense?
For a buyer driving frequent motorways, the 85 makes the clearest paper case because its larger usable battery reduces dependence on public charging. Someone with regular home charging may prefer the 60, but should ask whether the delivered example has the later lithium-iron-phosphate battery change. A high-output RS is interesting for acceleration and traction; it cannot be presumed to match the energy use of the rear-drive grades. Compare like-for-like WLTP configurations before concluding that one grade has superior range.
Ownership and used-car considerations
Used-market diligence should start with the actual vehicle's model-code, production date, tyre size, charging history, and software version. Some 2026 driver-assistance, frunk and digital-key enhancements were announced with phased availability and should not be described as universal standard equipment. The manufacturer battery table describes gross and usable capacity separately; confusing those numbers inflates accessible energy. Buyers can cross-shop the Enyaq for larger-family packaging, but should evaluate the two body sizes independently.
