2026 Leapmotor C10: What Buyers Need to Know
Applicability: EU; documented 2026 sales/production period, not a globally uniform model year. This profile covers the first generation range-extender version suv. It does not transfer the listed specification to unrelated market versions or earlier generations.
Verified configurations and technical facts
- UK — C10 Hybrid EV / REEV: rear 158 kW electric traction motor plus 1.5L gasoline generator; series range-extender; single speed EV drive; RWD. traction motor: 158 kW / 215 PS; battery capacity: 28.4 kWh LFP, brochure figure; electric range: 94 miles WLTP UK; total range: 602 miles WLTP manufacturer combined; maximum DC input: 65 kW; generator engine: 1.5L four-cylinder; does not drive road wheels. Test standard: UK WLTP; weighted PHEV combined range contingent on state-of-charge and fuel.
- EU — C10 REEV European introduction: rear electric traction motor plus 1.5L series generator; single speed EV drive; RWD. traction motor: 158 kW / 215 PS; battery: 28.4 kWh; electric range: 145 km WLTP initial European release. Test standard: 2025 initial EU WLTP, different configuration market statement.
Precise 2026 regional technical evidence
Leapmotor’s UK 2026 press pack calls this configuration C10 Hybrid EV, while the earlier European launch called it C10 REEV. Both describe a series range extender: only the electric motor directly drives the rear wheels. The UK source gives a 158-kW motor, 28.4-kWh LFP battery and 94-mile WLTP electric range. The manufacturer’s combined 602-mile total range assumes both electricity and petrol and should not be compared directly with a battery-electric vehicle’s single-charge WLTP rating.
What is distinct about this version
The C10 REEV entered European dealerships in 2025 and remained the preceding generation when Leapmotor separately announced a MY27 electronic-architecture update in September 2026. This calendar-year 2026 record excludes all explicitly MY27 hardware.
A range extender is not a normal hybrid
The C10 REEV powers its wheels electrically while using a gasoline engine as a generator to increase journey flexibility. That makes it different from both a pure battery EV and a conventional parallel hybrid. The manufacturer quotes a combined battery-and-fuel range above 970 km on WLTP, which is not a claim for electricity-only driving. Owners who never plug in will face different operating costs from those who habitually charge at home, making the usage pattern central to the buying decision.
The trade-off is engineering complexity
A buyer considering the REEV should balance freedom from charging stops against maintaining both an electric drivetrain and the fuel-consuming generator system. This is not a blanket assertion that one layout is less reliable; the European C10 has insufficient independent long-run experience to make that claim. Check whether the nearest service partner can handle the exact REEV variant, how the warranty is divided between components and what charging cable is supplied. Compare the model against the pure BEV C10 only after confirming which body and battery each advert describes.
Avoid the MY27 specification trap
Leapmotor announced significant new C10 technology under the explicit MY27 label in September 2026. Those improved chargers, motors and electronic systems must not retroactively define a 2026-registered, pre-update vehicle. This article covers the existing REEV sold in Europe after its April 2025 dealer introduction and into the 2026 transition. A careful purchaser should check the build date, range documentation and software level for the exact unit. The year of registration alone may not identify the hardware revision.
